昨天在上海舉行的2007國際金融投資博覽會上，投資大師吉姆羅傑斯先生再度語出驚人，“我認為中國股市的牛市還將持續80年。”作為赫赫有名的量子基金創始人之一，羅傑斯稱他從未賣出過中國股票，只有買入，最新一次的買入行為就發生在上周。

昨天，滬深兩市雙雙創出歷史新高。羅傑斯在接受媒體專訪時提醒投資者，創出新高好事情，但要注意可能已經到了需要當心的時候了。“我不是足夠聰明，不知道中國股市的調整是否馬上會到來；我也不是一個對市場時機把握的很好的人，短線做得很差。我只是知道，當某樣價格一直上漲，你就不得不小心了。”羅傑斯奉勸中國投資者，不要去盲目地聽消息。“中國有些股票已經漲得很瘋了，其中一些是被一些謠言、內幕消息炒高的，投資這些股票的風險很大。”反過來，他認為，在經濟結構調整的背景下，中國的鐵路行業將獲得大量的投資，供水體系、污染治理行業、太陽能及風能發電等行業的上市公司未來20年將會有良好的發展。

放眼未來，羅傑斯卻大膽預言，中國股票市場的整體牛市，可以維持80年到90年。

他表示，自從1999年首次買入中國股票起，從來沒有賣出，只有買進，最近的一次買進是在上周，不過只買了一點。“這並不矛盾。”羅傑斯解釋道，“中國將是下一個強國，我對此毫無疑問，在今後的幾十年內投資中國將獲得巨大的財富；即使中國股市再下跌50%，我也不願意賣出中國股票。”

儘管如此，羅傑斯還是反復強調，一旦中國股市形成了“真正的泡沫”，他將不得不賣出股票。“我的觀點沒有變化，你必須對泡沫特別小心，現在還沒有泡沫，現在還是醞釀泡沫的時候。”羅傑斯認為，中國股市漲了2年，這是可喜的，但同時也是不正常的。“我不希望它翻3倍，因為這樣的話我就不得不賣了。”他強調，自己並不想賣出中國股票，但當泡沫形成的時候不得不賣。“我見過泡沫，泡沫形成時很有樂趣，一些人賺了很多錢；但是當泡沫破滅的時候，幾乎每一個人都逃不了。”

除了暢談中國股市之外，羅傑斯還對國際金融市場作了展望，認為美元、債券市場的黃金時代已經過去，大宗商品市場將繼續紅火。“未來數年，人民幣將是世界上最堅挺的貨幣，而美元則將是最糟糕的貨幣。”1981年到2003年是投資債券的黃金時期，但是現在已經終結了，他不會買任何債券。說起投資什麼市場最合適，羅傑斯又老調重彈，“世界上有另一個市場，是會一直走強的，它是自然資源、商品、原材料，但有很多人不瞭解它。”羅傑斯強調，本輪商品牛市可以持續到2014年到2022年。

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street fell sharply Thursday, extending its weeks-long streak of volatility after disappointing home sales figures added to investors' increasing uneasiness about the mortgage and corporate lending markets. The Dow Jones industrials fell more than 300 points, while Treasury yields plunged as investors moved money from stocks to bonds.

Investors who had been able to shrug off concerns about subprime mortgage lending problems and a more difficult environment for corporate borrowing were clearly worried once again. Anxiety increased after the Commerce Department reported that sales of new homes fell 6.6 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 834,000 units, more than triple what had been expected and the largest percentage drop since sales fell by 12.7 percent in January.

Disappointing results from home builders including Pulte Homes Inc. and D.R. Horton Inc. -- squeezed by a sluggish environment from home sales and continued defaults in subprime loans -- weighed heavily on the market. Jitters also remain throughout the market that the number of private-equity deals -- a main driver of the market's record run -- might dry up because buyout shops are having difficulties accessing credit.

"Wall Street continues to walk a wall of worry," said Ryan Larson, a senior equity trader at Voyageur Asset Management. "The housing market continues to be a story, and nobody knows when it will rebound. But, the real concerns are about credit and oil pushing higher."

Thursday's trading was the latest in a series of frenetic sessions over the past month -- many accompanied by triple-digit swings in the Dow -- as investors sold on worries about the subprime fallout or bought on optimism that there wouldn't be any widespread problems caused by mortgage failures. Many analysts have described the back-and-forth trading as overwrought and based more on gut emotion than careful consideration of market and economic fundamentals.

Perhaps the clearest sign that investors had abandoned caution was a July 12 rally that hurtled the Dow up 283 points -- without any discernible catalyst and before Wall Street had had a chance to see the bulk of second-quarter earnings. When those earnings reports started flowing in, many turned out to be a sobering influence on the market, including news from Countrywide Financial Corp.

So, while the Dow passed 14,000 for the first time last week, investors obviously weren't feeling Thursday that such a lofty level was justified. In midday trading, the Dow plunged 314.67, or 2.28 percent, to 13,470.40.

Broader stock indicators were also sharply lower. The Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 39.21, or 2.58 percent, to 1,478.88 and the Nasdaq composite index tumbled 68.56, or 2.59 percent, to 2,579.61.

Francis' deal with Rockets worth $6 million

Steve Francis is going home.

After three years of struggles in Orlando and New York, the former All-Star guard will return to the place of his greatest glory, the Houston Rockets.

Francis was in Houston on Thursday to sign a two-year contract worth roughly $6 million with the Rockets. The club will announce the signing at a newsconference on Friday.

"It's great opportunity, I'm definitely excited," Francis told Houston's Fox 26 Sports. "This is a pretty astonishing moment right now. I am still caught up in the hype."

The 30-year-old Francis was recently bought out of the remaining two years, $34 million of his previous contract by the Portland Trail Blazers. He received nearly $31 million in the deal.

With money being no factor, Francis chose the Rockets over Miami, Dallas and the Clippers. The Heat are believed to have offered him more money.

According to a person close to Francis, he chose Houston largely because of his familiarity with the organization and the city. He has kept a home there since joining the club in 1999, and it was the site of his best years in the NBA.

As a high-flying point guard for the Rockets, Francis made three All-Star games and was regarded as one of the top players in the league. Francis' career began to decline when he clashed with coach Jeff Van Gundy, who had replaced Francis favorite Rudy Tomjanovich, in 2003.

Though Van Gundy helped Francis get to the playoffs for the first and only time in his career, his deliberate style of offense rubbed Francis the wrong way, and his scoring average dropped from 21 points per game to 16.6.

Francis was traded to Orlando for Tracy McGrady the following year. But while McGrady was outstanding in Houston, Francis failed to regain his form and was eventually dealt to New York to team with Stephon Marbury in the backcourt.

That experiment failed as well, as Francis ended up in a reserve role behind Jamal Crawford while struggling with minor knee injuries. Finally, the Knicks traded Francis to Portland in a draft-night trade that sent Zach Randolph to New York.

The Blazers had agreed to buy out Francis as a condition of the trade.

Francis returns to Houston in a much different role. The top option during his five-year stint with the club, he will be no more than the third option behind McGrady and Yao Ming. Francis spoke with both players as well as new Rockets coach Rick Adelman before deciding to accept Houston's offer.

Derek Fisher is returning to Lakers

They came into the NBA together in 1996, Fisher taken with the Lakers'24th draft pick and Bryant obtained in a draft day trade with Charlotte.

Fisher, who turns 33 on Aug. 9, cleared waivers Thursday, and the Lakers scheduled a news conference for Friday to announce his signing. The contract reportedly is a 3-year deal worth about $14 million.

He had asked the Utah Jazz to release him from his contract so he could concentrate on finding the best medical care for his 1-year-old daughter, Tatum, who has cancer in her left eye. The Jazz honored his request.

Fisher played eight years in Los Angeles, including three NBA championship seasons, before signing with Golden State as a free agent after the 2003-04 season. After two seasons with the Warriors, he was traded to Utah.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder averaged 10.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Jazz last season. He has career averages of 8.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds.

He made one of the most dramatic shots in Lakers' history with his desperate "0.4" second shot in the fifth game of the 2001 Western Conference semifinals against San Antonio.

(星島) 07月 14日 星期六全球暖化令氣溫上升，天文台台長林超英推算本世紀中期或之前，香港冬天寒冷的日子會愈來愈少，香港將會可能沒有冬天。 炎炎夏日，面對猛烈的陽光及高溫境界，不少人出外唯有做足準備。全球暖化問題愈來愈令人關注，天文台台長林超英指，天文台正統計二月份巴黎一份全球氣候變化評估報告的新數據。 林超英表示，香港每年冬天，氣溫低於十二度的寒冷日子將會逐漸減少，香港沒有冬天的時間，將會推前至今個世紀中或之前。他表示，寒冷日子下降幅度快而穩定，如果純粹將走勢向外推，到世紀中期，甚至之前，已經可能是零日，即是說沒有冬天的情況，以現在純粹香港本身統計數字，有可能世紀中期或之前，已經沒有冬天。 他又表示，密集的石屎建築物，加上樹木少，這些城市化問題，令香港未來二十年氣溫會上升接近一度，他呼籲市民減少用電。 另外，過往熱帶氣旋發放只是量度維港兩岸的風速，今年會實施新的熱帶氣旋發布準則，新準則會量度全港八個風速站，若有四個或以上的風速超過標準，會發出三號或以上暴風信號，但對外發放的指標不變，他提醒市民不要掉以輕心，颱風時要做好防禦措施。

Touch-screen iPods by August?

Now that the iPhone is out, the Apple rumor mongers have shifted their attention to the next generation iPod. Well, some of them anyway. Specifically, will it or won't it feature a device-wide touch-screen running OS X -- a stripped down iPhone if you will. Enter DigiTimes, with their hit-or-miss record of Taiwanese sources, who are calling for a touch-screen iPod to launch in August. Sources at "upstream suppliers" claim that WinTek -- a former iPod panel supplier back in the black-and-white iPod days -- won the order for the capacitive touch screen panels. With Jobs himself calling the iPhone the "best iPod yet," we certainly don't doubt that Apple's working on a touch-screen iPod (possibly with WiFi). Our only question is will it arrive before January's MacWorld or not.

戶外聽「iPod」提防被雷殛
繼不久前試過有人使用手機時被閃電殛中後，專家們發出最新警告，若在雷暴期間在戶外使用美國 蘋果集團出產的「iPod」MP3機聽歌，也可能隨時招致雷劈之禍。一批醫生已寫信給《新英格蘭 醫學雜誌》，發出這番警告。他們並非危言聳聽，而是有例可援。　在二ＯＯ五年，一名卅七歲加拿大 男子戴着「iPod」走到戶外，一邊享受音樂，一邊緩步跑時，突然風雲色變，落下大雨，雷電交加。該名男子跑到一棵樹附近，慘被雷劈，電殛沿着「iPod」的電綫傳到他的身體，導致他的胸部、頸部和面部受傷，耳膜破裂，耳朵內一些細骨移位。

Let's not bandy about here, we're pretty much God's gift to green shell snipes, and hook us up with a few red shells and perhaps a banana or two and you can pretty much kiss your Flower Cup goodbye. Nintendo just announced some extensive online functionality for its upcoming Wii-based Mario Kart title, including an undisclosed amount of "more" online competitors, which is always a plus. Nintendo is also packing a free Wii Wheel with each copy of the game to help ease the newbs into the Kart action. No word on how much the new wheel will cost on its own, but we'll be seeing both it and Mario Kart in the first quarter of 2008. More pics after the break.

A sort of Wii counterpart to Nintendo's brain-sharpening DS thrust, the Wii Balance Board is a Reebok Step look-alike, with dual sensors that can detect your weight and balance on each side as you exercise to the various on-screen Wii activities in Wii Fit. The board is wireless, and holds the potential of full-body games involving the Wiimote and the Wii Balance Board simultaneously. If you've had enough gaming, you can also have the Balance Board diagnose your body mass index. Or not. No word on when these two will launch, or for how much. 我 心 中 的 世 界 七 大 奇 蹟 心 水 ：
一 、 士 尼 樂 園 ： 開 幕 兩 年 ， 營 業 至 今 ， 面 臨 鄰 近 地 區 的 農 民 遊 客 長 期 衝 擊 ， 今 日 仍 一 塵 不 染 ， 光 潔 如 新 ， 而 且 還 不 斷 新 添 節 目 ， 像 噴 水 大 巡 遊 ， 對 抗 痰 涎 和 喧 嘩 ， 士 尼 的 先 進 文 化 ， 巍 然 矗 立 在 空 氣 污 染 的 赤 角 ， 到 底 是 如 何 熬 過 來 的 ， 令 人 驚 詫 稱 奇 。

Konami hints at MGS 4 jumping ship

Talking to Reuters, head of Konami's North American and European operations Kazumi Kitaue expressed their less than optimistic feelings about the PS3 and its latest price cut. "I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100" Kitaue said, "I don't expect a substantial impact ... With $500, you can buy a personal computer". Very opinionated and strong words coming from a developer who is supposedly creating a highly anticipated game (see Metal Gear Solid 4) exclusively for Sony. So, it's even more interesting and revealing to hear Kitaue's response to a question asking about MGS 4 exclusivity where he goes on to say that "Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps".

There you go fanboys, we've added some fuel to the Metal Gear Solid 4 is 360 bound fire as it has yet to be drowned out. You're welcome.

Apple plans cheaper, Nano-based phone: JP Morgan

Because of the anticipated lower price for the Nano-based phone, 2008 sales of 30 million to 40 million units "is achievable," according to JP Morgan's Chang.

This would be a much larger volume than is expected of the first iPhone, Apple has targeted sales of 10 million units in 2008, which would give it a 1 percent share of the global market.

Sales of the iPhone are expected to be limited to a small percentage of the market due to its high price tag, particularly in the United States where 85 percent of consumers tend to spend $100 or less on cell phones.

But analysts forecast that a cheaper phone from Apple, which leads the digital music player market, could pose a much bigger threat to long-established phone makers such as Nokia (NOK1V.HE: Quote, Profile, Research), Motorola Inc (MOT.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) and Sony Ericsson, owned by Sony Corp (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Ericsson (ERICb.ST: Quote, Profile, Research).

Taiwan's Catcher Technology (2474.TW: Quote, Profile, Research) will be the "major source of metal casing" for the new phone, according to Chang, who cited an unidentified channel source.

Revenue from Apple could represent T$6 billion ($183 million) to T$8 billion ($244 million) revenue for Catcher in 2008, Chang estimated.

Apple shares closed down $1.97, or 1.5 percent, at $130.33 in on Nasdaq.

十元塑膠鈔票今日發行，不少市民早上趁銀行未開門，就排隊在門外等候兌換。

今早在旺角匯豐銀行外有百多人排隊，官塘的銀行門外亦有市民排隊。

有市民指，兌換新鈔是為了貪新鮮，也有市民希望兌到特別號碼來收藏，但由於目前銀行以隨機方式派發鈔票，市民是否兌到特別號碼的新鈔，要碰碰運氣。

Sony lightens PS2 components by almost a third


Unlike Microsoft, which dropped the original Xbox in favor of the Xbox 360 in manner similar to Paris Hilton dropping her old cellphone, Sony has continued to maintain the PlayStation 2. Somehow, Sony has managed to make a new iteration of the PS2 that decreases the console's weight by almost a third: they've trimmed the console itself down to 600 grams from 900 grams, and the power adapter to 250 grams from 350 grams. The external design of the console is unchanged, but the lower weight and the new components should decrease production and shipping costs. Not bad for an old console that continues to sell well (and sell for more than the value of its components, at that).

Sony cuts PS3 price to $499, new $599 80GB model to hit North America in August



Despite denials, Sony has made official the new $499 price point for the PlayStation 3 that we've started to see appear in retailers across the US. The 60GB model's new price point will indeed be $499, with a new 80GB model going on sale for $599 in the US and Canada in August. As a small bonus, the 80GB version will include a "free" copy of MotorStorm. So there ya' have it kids: in one quick swoop, Sony has made the PS3's price a whole lot more competitive.

獅子銀行唔做窮人生意

獅子銀行公佈下月起，對於新客戶存款少於$5000，就要收取$50手續費，一年就收$600，100個月(8年幾)既手續費，就足以陰乾$5000。

咁樣即係變相唔做窮人生意，年年賺大錢既銀行，都一樣不顧人情做到咁絕，絕對反映左"無奸不商"。有人認為，存錢在獅子銀行，不如買獅子銀行既股，起碼收到既股息，點都多過活期息率。最慘存款低於$5000既小存戶，連買一手獅子銀行既股票都唔夠錢，只好轉存幾他銀行。所以"選擇"係有錢人既專利，窮人只可任人魚肉。因此，全世界都係"貧者越貧，富者越富"......

董誕節快樂

今天正是董誕節，希望大家在紀念七七事變的發生時，亦紀念這個災星降世的日子．

董建華的陽曆出生日期為１９３７年７月７日。同日日本發動七七事變，揭開侵華序幕，這不可算是一個吉利的日子。董建華亦知自己出生日子邪門，於在對外多宣稱自己出生日期為五月廿九日．而那只是其陰曆出生的日子。即使在董已下台的今天，很多網民都希望定每年七月七日為『董誕節』，以紀念這個災星降世的不幸日子。

港人萬眾期待的一天

坊間愛稱之為『老懵董』。在他在位的八年日子中，由於令香港民不聊生，被部份政治評論員稱為「建華八年」。董生有「地獄黑仔王」之稱，搞邊樣衰邊樣。三司十一局，個個都有事。
